V4V Conversations
Voices4Values Conversations is a youth-led podcast series hosted by Saira and Ronav Shah, exploring the unexpected places music reaches: science, economics, technology, society, advocacy, disability, culture, and the human spirit.
New guests, new questions, one belief: our voices advocate for values.
Episode 1: Why We Created Voices4Values
Jitania Shah interviews co-founders Saira and Ronav Shah
In this first episode, we share the story behind Voices4Values - how personal experiences with music, inclusion, and community inspired us to create a platform for connection and impact. From performing for Daniel's Music Foundation to supporting A Leg to Stand On, we reflect on how music can go beyond performance to meaning, impact, and bridging cultures.
This is where our journey begins
Episode 2: Music and Society
Guest: Dr. Steven Morrison, Professor of Music at Northwestern University and Co-Director of the Center for the Study of Education and the Musical Experience
A conductor makes no sound. So how are they one of the most powerful musicians in the room? In this episode, host Saira Shah speaks with Dr. Steven Morrison about the ways music shapes human connection, culture, and perception
Episode 3: Machine and Melody
Guest: Matthew Suttor, New Zealand–born composer, educator, and sound artist at Yale University; Program Manager at the Center for Collaborative Arts and Media and Senior Lecturer in Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies.
Can you hear the music in a flock of birds, in climate change, or in the spiral of a sunflower? In this episode, host Saira Shah speaks with Matthew Suttor about the surprising ways patterns hidden in nature, science, and data can be expressed through music.
Episode 4: Music & Disability
Guest: Juliana Beekmans, Director of Teaching and Learning at Daniel's Music Foundation.
Saira Shah sits down with Juliana Beekmans to talk about making music education truly inclusive. They explore how adapting the classroom (not the student) removes barriers for people with disabilities, why multisensory learning deepens engagement, and why music should never be a privilege, but a form of expression open to everyone.
The Last Chord
Created by Saira for the Society of Neuroscience (2026 Brain Awareness Video Contest), The Last Chord explores why familiar music can sometimes reach people with Alzheimer’s disease when words cannot. The project reflects a question at the heart of Voices4Values: how music can become more than performance, creating pathways to memory, identity, and human connection.
